Stop, Prevent Mould and Mildew on Boats

This device stops and prevents mold and mildew forming on boats. BoatFresh, a UV Air Treatment device, treats the air in the enclosed space on boats, destroying airborne spores and bacteria, such as Cladosporium (most common indoor and outdoor molds), Stachybotrys and Aspergillus (black moulds), using proven technology from the food processing and health industries.

BoatFresh should be installed in an area with good airflow. One device per 5m of boat length, (25m3 of space) is recommended. BoatFresh works best when used in conjunction with dehumidifiers. Ensuring good airflow is equally important, so keeping the cabin doors open, is essential.

What causes mildew and mould?

Mildew and mould are fungi which are present everywhere in the biosphere. They thrive in humid conditions and reproduce by ‘seeds’, called spores, which travel through the air. The spores attach to surfaces and given the right conditions, they grow and start to produce new spores. Large colonies of fungi then become noticeable as black stains.  The spreading and growth of mildew and mold can be reduced by controlling the environment, so using a good dehumidifier, in conjunction with BoatFresh, is recommended.
